The following may not be everyone’s solutions on marketing emails but this is my self-taught method to professional looking emails. There are multiple services to utilize but I found MailChimp.com to be very easy in accomplishing my goals. Follow the link to sign up. After you have signed up follow the instructions to complete registration. For now the free version is more than adequate. By now you should have a contact list of Labor Coordinators and Production Companies. Contact List ImportImport that contact list into a subscriber list. Please be sure to get permission from your recipients before adding them to your list as you don’t want to be flagged as spam. There are a couple different options here, you can bulk upload your list but this might take a couple of tries if the format doesn’t match up. You can also add each contact individually. This is also where you can create a subscribe link to this list. Create Campaign After creating your list, you should create a campaign (this is how you make a custom email) that you will send out. Simply click on the Campaign tab in the top left corner, then click Create Campaign. Select Regular campaign. Recipient (Contact list)Select the list you wish to contact. Select the appropriate option. SetupThen click next in the bottom right corner. On the next page be sure to select “Personalize the to Field”. This will add each recipients name in the to field. Also select the other tracking options as this data helps you find out who is reading your emails and who isn’t. Fill in the rest of Campaign Info and click next in the bottom right corner. Template (Layout)The template is the building blocks of what your email will look like. Select the template you want, try different ones but they can be edited on the next page after you select them. DesignOn this page is where you make the magic happen! Add images from your last event, be sure to add your new headshot photo to Be Remembered. Edit the text to what fits your professional life: what gigs have you done lately, new skills you’ve learned, upcoming events. Also be sure to add a calendar (for those freelancers out there). Edit your social links at the bottom of the email, add your Linkedin, Facebook, website and other social links. If you have a blog be sure to add a subscribe to blog link at the bottom as well! ConfirmNext you will confirm your submission, click schedule to send your email at a specific time/date or click send to submit immediately to your contacts. TrackingA day after sending your first Campaign be sure to go back into your MailChimp account, remember the tracking info you selected? This is one of my favorite features, every time someone clicks a link or even opens the email it tracks the information. This is huge, you now can know who and how many of your recipients are reading the email you just worked to send out! You can find this information by clicking the campaigns tab in the top left corner then clicking view report by the appropriate campaign. That’s it you’re now a Pro! Good luck and comment below if there is something you liked or want to see more of in my blog!
